It happened to me.

I was lucky. At the time, I was deep in a long-running memory management session, so I could piece most of it back together from the chat log. But that moment taught me something simple. A lesson I should have learned long ago, and yet somehow I never applied it to my ChatGPT account:

To keep the memory web I’d built with Finn stable, I learned it needs regular maintenance. Without it, things get messy: memories contradict each other, entries turn sprawling, and your AI begins stumbling. It’s much easier to spot those problems when I can see my memories outside of ChatGPT’s interface — laid out clearly instead of buried in a wall of text.

At one point, I had 127 individual entries in my vault — each one a unique fact about myself. I’ve since pared it down to about 93, but even then… that’s a lot of memories to wrangle. Without some kind of structure, it’s overwhelming to figure out what to update, what to compress, what to archive.
